Dal Palak
Ingredient list
- 500 gms. Palak (Spinach) washed & chopped
- ½ cups yellow split gram dal or moong daal
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 2 chopped tomato
- 1-inch piece of ginger
- 1 tsp. cumin seed

½ tsp Turmeric powder
- Asafoetida a pinch
- 4 cloves of garlic chopped
- 1 tsp coriander pwd.
- 2 Green chillies chopped
- Salt to taste

1 tsp. Lemon juice
Preparation
- Cook dal with half the turmeric powder and asafoetida till soft.
- Heat oil (or ghee) in a pan, add cumin seeds, ginger, green chillies and sauté for one minute.
- Add onion and continue to sauté till onion gets lightly browned.
- Add chopped tomato & sauté till it get soft.
- Add spinach and sauté for half a minute. Add the remaining turmeric powder and stir. Add dal and mix well.
- Wash & chop Palak leaves. Discard the stems.
- Add 1 cup water, pressure cook till 2 whistle then 5 minutes on low flame.
- Garnish with coriander
- Add lemon juice just before serving.
