Fengshui tips

Fengshui is often identified as a form of geomancy, divination by geographic features, but it is mainly concerned with understanding the relationships between nature and ourselves so that we might live in harmony within our environment.

Feng shui is related to the very sensible notion that living with rather than against nature benefits both humans and the environment.

Here are few points for fengshui that we can easily apply to our day today life :

  • Have live plants in as many rooms as possible, if their leaves look like round coins, even better.
  • Doors have a powerful fengshui. Choose a solid door, without any glass panels, which opens inwards. Sliding doors are not good.
  • In the bedroom, never have a mirror reflect to the bed, as this can cause the marriage to get ‘crowded’
  • Do not keep fish in the bedroom, bathroom nor kitchen, there they will create material loss.
  • Install a pond outside that has 9 goldfish or 8 red or gold and 1 black fish. The one black fish attracts all that is negative or undesirable. If a fish dies, do not fret. It is believed that this fish absorbed some bad luck that was meant for a resident of the home.
  • The north-western corner of a room, or building, is known as heaven's gate, do not locate a stove, fireplace, or heater in this corner, because fire at heaven's gate is considered inauspicious.
  • In the bedroom, never have a mirror reflect to the bed, as this can cause the marriage to get ‘crowded’
  • A fountain in the North-east may encourage wealth. Especially indirect wealth opportunities.
  • Fireplaces and heaters should be placed on the southern wall of your living room, for this is most auspicious. Other auspicious locations include east, south-east, south-west and north-east. North-west is very unlucky for fire, so do not set fires in this corner.
  • Regular shapes, such as rectangles and squares, have better Fengshui than irregular shapes such as triangles and shapes with missing corners. To encourage the best flow of energy, maintain the the power of chi with regular shapes and structures.
  • Do not sleep under an exposed beam. This generates negative energy, causing sleepless nights and rifts between couples. Hide beams with fake ceilings, or hand two bamboo flutes tied with red thread.
  • If you work at the centre of an open-plan office, place a natural crystal cluster on your desk to ground the energy. Or place a small rock tied with red string under your table.
