Ingredient list

  • 500 grms - potato, boiled and chopped into slices
  • 1 medium - onions, finely chopped
  • 1 large - tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 small piece - ginger, finely chopped
  • ½ cup - cucumber, finely chopped
  • 2 cups - .brown chick peas, soaked in water overnight
  • 1 small bunch, coriander, freshly chopped
  •  ½ tsp. or to taste - red chilli powder, dry roasted 
  • 1 tsp. or as per taste - cumin powder, dry roasted
  • 2 tsp - chat masala
  • 1 tbsp or to taste - lime juice
  • salt – to taste.

Preparation

  • Boil potatoes, peel the skin off and slice them into small pieces of medium thickness. 
  • Soak handful of brown chick peas overnight, finely chop onions, tomatoes, ginger, cucumber & fresh coriander. 
  • Take a large bowl. Add potatoes, all the finely chopped vegetables, the soaked brown chick peas and mix well. 
  • Add chilli powder, cumin powder, chat masala, lime, salt and mix well.
  • Serve cold with a hot cup of coffee or chai.

Notes

  • You can add tamarind pulp or dried mango powder as a substitute of lime juice.
  • You can also add lentil sprouts, peanuts, fresh coconut pieces & other salad vegetables to the aloo chat.
  • Garnish with crushed crisps chips on top for a crunchy variation.
