Ingredient list

  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 can condensed milk.
  • ½ cup milk powder
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp desi ghee
  • 1 kg. grated lauki (without seeds)
  • ¼ tsp elaichi powder
  • For garnishing - cashew nut, cardamoms, almonds, raisins as needed.

Preparation

  • In a heavy bottom pan, bring the grated lauki (bottle gourd) and milk to a boil.
  • Reduce the flame and cook untill milk start getting thick. 
  • Keep stirring continuously to avoid burning. lauki should be tender and slightly changed in color.
  • Add condense milk, stirring constantly, cook for 5 minutes, then add powder milk and almonds and pistachios and turn off the heat..
  • Add the sugar and the ghee and cook further till the ghee leaves the side of the pan.
  • Add the kishmish (raisin) and chirojee and mix well. Can be served hot and cold.
  • Add elaichi powder & garnish with all above-mentioned dry fruits.
  • Enjoy hot Lauki Ka Halwa.
