- Drain running slow: Pour 1 cup of salt, 1-cup baking soda, than a pot of boiling water. Or add ½-cup baking soda with 1-cup vinegar. Mixture will foam, then run hot water.
- Use an old toothbrush to cleaning things
- Citric fruit rinds will remove grease spots from oven tops.
- Rub Alum powder on zari work of a saree to regain its shine back.
- Rusty curtain rings: Dip it in hot vinegar for two hours.
- Clean combs: by dipping them for a while in a solution of washing soda and warm water.
- Wipe the blades of greasy knives with a peeled lemon.
- Keep the refrigerator free of odors by placing a tsp. of soda bicarb in a corner of the fridge.
- If glasses are stuck together, keep them in the fridge and they will separate easily the next day.
- Keep a few pens and a pad handy at all times hanging next to your telephone.
- Always spray your grill with non-stick cooking spray before grilling to avoid sticking!
- Heat the frying pan before adding oil or butter. It's will serve the purpose of non-stick & will prevent food from sticking.
- Have a calendar in a central location to write all important dates, appointments, meetings & special Occasions.
- Clear nail polish: good emergency glue for small items like stamps, recipe clippings, etc.
- A knot in a jewelry chain: If the knot is really tight, apply a single drop of baby oil or cooking oil to that area and than try remove the knot.
- Storing your winter clothes: Buy colored plastic garbage cans with tight fitting lids.
- Use peanut butter to remove chewing gum from carpets. Smear peanut butter on gum to loosen.
- Want to give stemmed flowers more length for an arrangement, just slide them into soda straws before putting them into a vase.
